With Christmas upon us again, it's also time for gifting and celebrating with family and friends. But let's not get too carried away with the silly season and stay mindful of how we can enjoy this joyous occasion sustainably with less impact on the environment with our tips to have a more eco-friendly Christmas!
A real Christmas tree doesn't use any plastic, but takes at least 2 years, and up to 7 years, to grow depending on size.
Store-bought Christmas trees are made from plastic, but reusable for many years. This is our tree that we've had since 2006, long before we started our sustainability journey with the Paper Saver! Our kids love it as it not only upholds our sustainable values, but our cherished family Christmas memories.
Whatever your choice, be sure to maximise your use of the tree, and to dispose of it through the proper channels at its end of life🌲
Reimagine your decorations with natural and reusable elements. Opt for LED lights, handcrafted ornaments, and decorations made from recyclable materials. Embrace nature's beauty with pinecones, holly, and dried flowers to add a touch of greenery.
Consider gifts that leave a positive impact. Handmade presents, experiences, or items that are practical and reusable can bring immense joy while reducing your environmental footprint.

Wrap your gifts in reusable or biodegradable materials, like fabric or recycled paper. Get creative by using fabric scraps, old scarves and tea towels, or even plantable seed paper to add a unique and sustainable touch.
Be sure to also reuse the paper bags you have stored away as they can make great gift bags! If you have kids, let them help you jazz it up as an eco-friendly arts and crafts activity!🎀
Plan a festive feast with locally sourced, organic ingredients. Reduce waste by planning meals wisely and repurposing leftovers creatively. Instead of plastic cutlery and plates, opt for your silvers and dinnerware (it looks nicer too!).
If you are daunted by the idea of the washing needed afterwards, choose biodegradable and reusable alternatives.
And don't forget to try reusable Christmas crackers!
Spread the joy by extending kindness to those in need. Donate unused items, volunteer your time, or support local charities to make a meaningful difference in your community.
It all starts small and local before you can make a larger impact💚
By weaving sustainability into our Christmas traditions, we not only create heartwarming memories but also contribute to a more sustainable world for everyone. Let this Christmas be a celebration of love, joy, and mindful living🎄
